“We’ll get there in the end” is a phrase I’ve often heard from people when discussing their personal or their business aspirations. It’s a phrase I’ve never had any real connection with for a couple of reasons. Firstly, where is “there” and secondly when is the end? Is it the dead end? If so you’ve no time to enjoy what you have achieved!
For me this is a statement that leaves far too much to chance and doesn’t sound like it has much of a plan in place to arrive “there” and by when? This statement is fine if people don’t care about what they want to achieve or when they want to achieve it by. However, it is a dangerous one to make if you have specific things you want to achieve in your life. Especially as we never know when our end will arrive, I’m sure we all know people who thought they had more time left then they actually ended up having.
No matter how big or small our life and business goals are it’s so important we give them daily attention to increase our chances of success and of getting “there” before the “end.” Goal setting and motivation is far too big a subject to go into in one post however there are some fundamentals that need to be in place for success.
Have a vision of what you want or of what you definitely don’t want, in your mind. Give it some attention and work toward what you want or away from what you don’t want daily. The consistency of daily action is the most important thing here. Some people, work really well when they have a clear vision of what they want, and some people work better and will get fired up when they decide they’ve had enough of something in their life. These people will be more motivated to not have that “thing” rather than having a new “thing”. We are all different so find the way that works for you.
You then must take action on a daily basis to achieve your desired result. Consistency and focus are key elements of any success, the more consistently the right action is taken the quicker the success. Breaking the goals down into small steps/milestones will also help in gaining a feeling of momentum toward your success.
Working with clients on achievement in both their personal and business life for over ten years I’ve seen many clients achieve their goals and I’ve also seen many not achieve their goals. The ones that succeed had a plan that worked for them and together we worked and refined that plan to keep them on track for success. Those that didn’t succeed didn’t have a plan and just had a feeling they would get “there” in the “end”.
We all get somewhere in the end the trick is to end up where you want to end up having achieved the things you wanted to achieve.
Have an awesome 2018 and if you feel I could support your success in your business or personal life for the year then please get in touch.
